About Us

Children are viewed as competent, curious, full of potential and interested in connection to the world around them.  Our teachers are deeply aware of children’s potentials and construct all of their work and environment of the children’s experience to respond appropriately. Our system is designed to support collaboration and cooperation in all our activities.  Nothing is left to sit in isolation.  Children, teachers and parents together continually improve the system to support continuous development of the child. The space within the school is intentionally organised by teachers to support and plan for various activities so that there is a balance between individual, small and large group activities, which is either child directed or teacher initiated activity. We are committed to the idea that through the encouragement of self-expression and curiosity and through exploration of their own world, children develop a healthy self-image, a sense of responsibility and helpfulness, and learn problem solving and decision making.   To successfully live up to our commitment, our activities for children are planned and designed to support the holistic development of the child.  Our plans are guided by the UK learning and development framework set out in Early Years Foundation Stage framework.   This framework gives a set of common principles and commitments to deliver quality early education and childcare experiences to all children. 

Magic Stars pre-primary school started in June 2014 with a vision of giving every child an equal opportunity for the roots to grow and wings to fly and achieve their maximum potential. Our aim is to provide an environment where children have a happy experience of school and learn and grow through exploring and experiencing.  We, at Magic Stars pre-primary school believe that the children are the future and we value in giving all the children a head start in this direction.

Shilpa is an experienced child care practitioner and has years of experience of working with children of all ages. She has managed her own pre-primary school in the UK and is passionate about children’s learning and development and is supportive of each child to achieve their full potential. 

After graduating from Chennai she went on to complete her Diploma in teachers training from University of Salford, UK. Being part of helping children to discover and learn as well as grow in confidence is both a joy and a privilege for her.

Monica grew up in Bangalore and studied in prestigious institutions – Bishop Cotton and Mount Carmel. Before getting married and settling in Pondicherry, she qualified as a Chartered Financial Analyst and worked briefly at  A.F. Ferguson before settling in Pondicherry.

The joy and satisfaction of raising two young children, motivated her to co-start Magic Stars school.

As a full time working trustee of the school, Monica dedicates herself to children’s early learning and development. She helps children develop a sense of joy and adventure in learning. 

Monica is passionate practitioner of Yoga and has introduced this skill to the children at Magic Stars. She is conversant in several languages such as English, Hindi and Tamil. Monica has also successfully introduced online learning for Hindi and English Language with emphasis on developing reading skills,
